Laura Trent is an American-Italian singer-songwriter ablaze with passion. Her choruses are forceful, emotional, eye-opening; she sings with uncommon authority, and her stories have the stamp of authentic experience. At the same time, she can wrap her sinuous lower-register around a quiet verse, and draw her listeners into an intimate kind of contact. “WISH ME WELL,” published in 2009, is her debut album. It builds from a whisper to a shout, and both extremes are rendered with uncommon intensity. She’s one with a taste for cinematic arrangements. Her songs are moody, mysterious, and builds to an engrossing climax. Laura Trent’s storytelling is colorful and dramatic, too – she’s not afraid to be direct or confessional, and the temptation she faces feels palpable.

Naturally, I was honored to have DJ Jazzy Joyce join us on KwaK, but as we began doing more research about her and how she came up, it was clear to me that this was going to be a very special interview, one that I wanted to conduct with her personally. She is such a humble soul, and her energy was apparent throughout this entire process. Building with her was a pleasure from beginning to end. Check out our inspirational interview with the legendary DJ Jazzy Joyce!
