We asked Wonder Lee a couple of questions about this fantastic upcycled wearable art, and here’s what we got!
So, tell us a little bit about your designs:
All of my designs are made with sustainability in mind. I believe that we should all reduce, reuse, and recycle.
How long have you been designing your ties?
I have been designing ties for about 17 months.
What was your inspiration for creating this line, and why use recycled materials?
I am a self taught assemblage artist and all of my art is created by recycling and re-purposing materials. I wanted to take the principles that I use in my art and create an accessory line so I chose bowties and have since expanded to include glasses, cuff links, and soon jewelry and bowties for pets.
How does your art light you up?
I love being able to take my ideas and manifest them into a reality. There is no greater feeling than being able to do what you love.
We absolutely agree! So what’s next for Wonder Lee? Any events, exhibits, shows coming up for you?
Right now I am just trying to expand my line and I will be doing some events out in Los Angeles. On April 28 I will be participating at the Melrose Trading Post Market at Fairfax, and the Pancakes and Booze art show on May 3rd and 4th.
